How to Share Your Collection Online

Sharing that doesn't require your friends to download anything

The reason most collection sharing fails is friction on the viewer's side. A link that dead-ends in an app-store page loses the person you sent it to. TrophyShelf's guest view is a real web page: the person you send it to sees the full collectible — photo carousel, grade, tags, description — exactly as it appears in the app.

Guest opens count as views (traffic source: “Direct link”), so you can see in Insights how many people actually looked.

Who can see what, exactly

The default runs in opposite directions at the two levels, and it is the one thing on this page worth reading twice.

A collection is private until you publish it. Nothing inside an unpublished collection is reachable by anyone.

A collectible inside a public collection is public unless you set it otherwise. The add flow preselects Public, and public pieces appear in the Discover feed and on your shelf with view counts.

⚠️ Private is not a quieter kind of sharing. A private collectible is never written to the public side at all — there is no page, so there is no link to send. If you want one person to see one piece, that piece has to be public while they look.

So there are two states, not three: reachable by anyone with the link, or reachable by nobody. There is no unlisted middle.

Questions people ask before they send a link

Does the person I send it to need an account?

No, and this is the part that makes a link worth sending. Guest view is an ordinary web page on share.trophyshelf.app — photo carousel, condition, the type’s own fields, description. No app, no sign-up, no login wall. A link that dead-ends on an app-store page loses the person you sent it to, which is why most collection sharing fails.

Can I share one piece without publishing the rest?

Yes. Publish the collection, then set every piece you would rather not show to Private — those are excluded from the public projection entirely. What is left is the one thing you wanted seen.

It is more work than an unlisted link would be, and it is the honest shape of the feature.

Do views from a shared link count?

Yes, as Direct link traffic, and they roll into Insights ranked by collectible. That is how you find out which pieces people actually stop for — and, after posting to a forum, which communities care about your category.

⚠️ Private pieces are never counted in views, which follows from their not being published at all.

What happens if I make something private again?

It stops being written to the public side, so the page goes with it. Anyone holding the old link finds nothing there — which is the behaviour you want from an undo, and worth knowing before you rely on a link staying alive.
