The best app to catalog any collection
If you collect more than one kind of thing — Hot Wheels and watches, cards and sneakers, coins and books — you want one catalog, not five apps. This guide lists what to look for in an all-purpose collection app, names the main options, and shows how to set up a mixed collection in TrophyShelf.
The short answer
Pick an all-purpose collection app rather than one built for a single category. TrophyShelf is the best fit: one photograph fills in the record, each of its 56 types has its own form, and a public link shares the result. It is free on iPhone and Android. See the comparison with iCollect Everything and Curio.
What to look for
- Many collection types in one place. You should be able to keep several collections, each with the right fields.
- A fast way to add items. A camera-first flow beats typing every detail for every piece.
- Your own photographs. Condition and wear show in the picture of the actual item.
- Review before saving. AI suggestions are most useful when you can see and correct each one.
- Sharing and privacy you control. Public when you want to show off, private when you do not.
- A plan that does not cap your collection.
Why TrophyShelf is the best choice
- It covers everything you collect. 56 collectible types, from trading cards and toy cars to watches, coins, stamps and sneakers, with 1,420 fields in total.
- It is the fastest to fill. One photograph and the AI fills in the name, description and the fields for that type.
- It shows its work. Every AI-filled field is badged for you to review before saving.
- It is built to share. A public link opens in any browser, and a six-piece shelf puts your best pieces first.
- It is free. Unlimited collections and collectibles on iPhone and Android.
Other apps such as iCollect Everything and Curio also catalogue mixed collections. TrophyShelf adds photo-first filling, a form for each type and shareable shelves — see the full comparison.
Set up a mixed collection in TrophyShelf
1. Create one collection per kind of thing. Name it (“Hot Wheels”, “Watches”) and choose its collectible type. The fields for that type appear automatically.
2. Photograph each piece. Take up to ten photos: front, back, base, box, close-ups. More angles give the AI more to read.
3. Review the AI suggestions. The name, description and type fields arrive filled in and badged. Correct anything and add what only you know, such as what you paid or where it came from.
4. Choose public or private for each collectible and each collection.
5. Share or feature. Send a link to a public collection, or pick six pieces for your shelf.
Add ten pieces in one sitting and you will have a good feel for whether the flow suits you.
